COGNEX: CDC-100 digital SMOS camera, with 1280 x 1024 pixel resolution. This small camera is designed for space-constrained machine-vision applications. It performs a direct 1:1 conversion of the digitized image for low noise. A configurable region-of-interest feature helps to select and acquire a limited area within an image. The camera interfaces to the company's MVS-8100D frame grabber and its library of vision software tools. The camera is available is one, two, and three channel versions. The frame grabber enable interchangeabillity of any combination of up to three cameras. Cognex also makes the "InSight" vision sensor. See www.cognex.com or call Cognex Corporation at 877-264-6391.

ELMO: Two new 1/2 inch CCD color cameras have joined with ELMO micro cameras to offer imaging options for machine vision and factory automation. The HC7501 1/2 inch color CCD camera with DSP circuitry offera a multi-programmable dynamic frame accumulation mode and eight electronic shutter modes from 1/60 to 100,000 seconds. The HC7001 incorporates high-sensitivity EXview HAD CCD (TM) circuitry to achieve optimum color saturation, minimize smear, improve sensitivity and image quality a low light levels. Both models have Y/C outputs with Hirose connectors. ELMO micro cameras, designed for tight spaces where standard size cameras won't fit, are available from a 1/4 inch head to a 1 inch head. All work with interchangeable CCUs. See www.elmousa.com; www.elmocanada.com, or call 800-947-3566 (800-363-4059 in Canada).

DALSA: The DALSA "Piranha2" offers 6k and 8k linescan, with speed of 80 or 160 MHz (40 MHz per output, 2 or 4 outputs); in 8 or 10 bits. Piranha2 requires less light at a 60 percent greater data rate than the original Piranha. See http://vfm.dalsa.com, or call DALSA at 519-886-6000, Waterloo, Ont., Canada.

VISION COMPONENTS: Offering over 100 task-specific Vision Component series-based solutions for use in addressing common machine vision applications such as gauging, part orientation determination, object recognition, label inspection, assembly verification, sorting, reading of 1D bar or 2D matrix codes, OCR, and pattern recognition/alignment. The VC 2028 is a low-cost camera designed for industrial applications. It is an image processing system contained within a single unit. It offers computational power of 1200 MIPS and 16 MB of SDRAM image/data memory with 2 MB of flash EPROM for program and data storage. It can acquire full frame 640 x 480 resolution at twenty frames per second. See www.vision-comp.com, or call 781-229-5842, or email info@vision-comp.com. (International offices in Germany at www.vision-components.de)

JAI AMERICA: Offering the "switchless" A-series automated imaging camera series, designed without dip switches. Connects to the RS-232 port on a computer or any "dumb' terminal. Camera settings like shutter speed, trigger modes, and gain can be changed in real-time from within an application. See www.jai.com or call 877-472-5909 (offices also in Denmark and in Japan).

ELDIM: Offering cameras for scientific and industrial imaging applications, with 16 bit CCD, with resolution up to 1538 x 1024 and plug-and-play connection. Camera includes data and image processing software package with and ActiveX library for remote control. The Eldim iSense 1602 E and 401 E are high-performance digital cameras designed for use in quantitative imaging applications. These cameras are built from a Kodak scientific grade sensor with respectively 1.6 million pixels and 393 000 pixels. A true dynamic of 12,7 bits is obtained from the use of a 14-bits A/D converter and low noise electronic. See http://www.eldim.fr, or email eldim@eldim.fr, 14200 Herouville Saint Clair, France.
