The image on the left is a confocal Z-series of Mycelium Fungus, a common antigen in everyday allergies. The data was acquired to look at structural changes. It is roughly 35 layers at 0.5 um increments at 60x. The image was collected on a Biorad 1024 confocal at 512x512. The registered stack of 2D images was imported into VayTek's VoxBlast software for reconstruction as a three dimensional image on a Macintosh computer. Image courtesy of Lance Rodenkirch, Lab Manager, W.M. Keck Neural Imaging Laboratory. VoxBlast(TM) Macintosh is a general purpose, volume rendering program designed for research. It accepts stacks of registered 2D images and creates 3D projections from any viewpoint using an alpha blending or surface rendering algorithm. It includes tools for pseudocoloring, transparency, lighting, movie loop generation, filters, palette editing, etc. Rendering speed depends upon platform, memory and size of data set. Features
